Dr. Fern Arlen completed her neurological training at the Dent Neurologic Institute in Buffalo, New York in 1993 before completing an EMG fellowship at Texas Tech University Health Science Center in Lubbock, Texas in 1994. In 1999, Dr. Arlen, a board-certified neurologist by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, joined Four Peaks Neurology, and since then, has established herself as a fountain of experience in the neurological community.
Dr. Arlen’s approach to practice is patient centered, as she focuses on compassionate care and understanding a patient’s particular needs when treating patients. Dr. Arlen has expertise treating a variety of neurological disorders, including headaches (migraine, tension, cluster), epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, dementias, Parkinson’s disease, back/neck pain, and peripheral nerve issues. Dr. Arlen is particularly interested in treating headaches and neurodegenerative diseases (dementia, Parkinson’s disease).
Over the years, Dr. Arlen has been actively involved in the scientific medical community by conducting many research trials and various drug studies. Dr. Arlen’s has also taken an active interest in educating residents and medical students. Currently, she is a sub-investigator for drug trials with Clinical Endpoints in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Music is a significant and intrinsic part of Dr. Arlen’s life. Prior to moving to Arizona, she played the violin professionally. Dr. Arlen continues to play the violin, and as an avid supporter of the arts, she continues to fuel her passion for music by attending concerts and operas. Dr. Arlen has unbridled joie de vivre; when she is not making music, she loves hiking, white-water rafting, traveling, and photography.
